Department Overview
Gas Operations oversees the natural gas transmission and distribution operations. The team maintains and operates 6,700 miles of gas transmission pipeline, 43,000 miles of distribution main, 3.6 million gas services, three PG&E-owned storage facilities with 102 BCF capacity, nine compressor stations with 175K HP, and 5,000 measurement and control facilities. Gas Operations is comprised of approximately 6,000 coworkers.
Position Summary
The Quality Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting all functions of the Gas CAP Cause Evaluation Program, including performing detailed Corrective Action Program investigations and analyses using established formal causal evaluation methods and tools. Collaborates with departments within or across lines of business to develop effective corrective action plans for identified issues. Provides analyses and reporting of adverse trends. Develops quality management systems and plans for process improvement to assure quality assurance and quality control measures are implemented. Evaluates effectiveness of, and recommends improvements in business process, practice and procedures. Identifies and communicates opportunities for systemic improvement.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
CA Minimum: $112,000
CA Maximum: $179,000
And/Or
Bay Minimum: $118,000
Bay Maximum: $188,000
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Job Responsibilities
Corrective Action Program (CAP):
Serves as a subject matter expert providing guidance, recommendations and coaching to leaders and their teams regarding CAP and quality system engineering.
Works on high impact issues that may pose significant risk to the business
Develops and leads teams to perform investigations of the most complex issues identified within CAP.
Ensures all affected stakeholders collaborate in investigations and facilitates agreement on the root cause as well as any contributing causes of issues.
With stakeholder concurrence, develop appropriate corrective action plans that contain effective solutions for causes to issues to prevent recurrence.
Verifies corrective actions are implemented and validates effectiveness to prevent recurrence
Process Improvement
Develops and leads teams to perform business process analysis and business process reengineering
Works with leaders to develop quality management plans to implement quality assurance and quality control
Review failure data, perform trend analysis, and make recommendations to improve system performance
Recommends process improvements for monitoring, executing and reporting
Promotes performance improvement Other
May coach and provide direction to less experienced team members
Works with directors and managers across organizations to provide expert opinion and influence decisions
Qualifications
Minimum:
High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
2 years of experience with causal evaluation methods and investigations in the utility industry
7 years of progressive experience in utility operations or in other highly regulated industry
Ability to travel up to 70 percent of working time
Desired:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
Experience in utility operations, or related, 2 years
Experience in corrective action programs, nuclear
Experience in business process reengineering
RCA-Root Cause Analysis certification
ACE-Achieving Competitive Excellence certification
5 Whys certification
HFACS-Human Factors Analysis Classification System certification
Fault Tree Analysis Certification.
