Our Opportunity
We are currently looking for an experienced senior data governance professional to join us in our Customer, Digital and Technology team as a Data Steward, reporting directly to the Head of Data Governance, Customer, Digital and Technology.
The Data Steward will be required to work with business operational platforms and enabling units to undertake a groupwide data mapping exercise to assess privacy and security risks. The Data Steward is responsible for instilling data governance cohesion within and across these business functions.
The scope of work requires an experienced data professional with strong stakeholder engagement skills to facilitate workshops and ensure business requirements are met. With excellent attention to detail, the successful candidate will need to be a self-starter, thrive in a fast-paced work environment and be able to utilise their skill set to help guide and support the business on delivering better solutions.

What you will do
- Collaborate with Technology, Data and Digital Executive Committee (TDDEC) members to receive, understand and drive policy directives and mandates.
- Collaborate with data stewards in interpreting policy requirements, uplifting relevant information governance policies, standards, and processes, for subsequent TDDEC submission and approval.
- Assist in consolidated reporting into the TDDEC, with responsibility for driving the collation of team metrics, spanning across data domains and business functions of the enterprise.
- Improve maturity of data governance in the range of stewardship activities and responsibilities.
- Improve the data quality remediation framework and resolve data quality issues with operational business leads.
- Responsibility for collation of information governance tooling requirements covering core capabilities of the Information Governance Framework (IGF).
- Builds and manages stakeholder (internal and external) relationships. Relationships with stakeholders including Data SMEs, Business partners, users, vendors, customers, project team members and management leaders.
About you
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Architecture and Enterprise Data Life Cycle Management is a must.
- Demonstrated knowledge of industry leading data quality and data management practices with comprehensive knowledge of DMBOK framework and other information governance frameworks.
- Awareness of the security, privacy and quality requirements for critical data domains and entities.
- Deep and comprehensive understanding of the importance and impact of data (or bad data) on the ability of the business to meet its own objectives.
- Demonstrated engagement and consulting skills with change management concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change and KPI design.
- Solid project management skills to guide point-in-time and ongoing targeted data quality, retention, security, and privacy improvement projects.
- Ability to communicate with people at all levels, from clerical positions to the senior management team.
- Ability to influence peers and subordinates to modify behaviours and provide support for the adoption of data governance initiatives and policies
- Facilitation and conflict resolution skills to assist in resolving the different points of view and requirements that invariably collide during cross-team and multi-tenanted organisation efforts.
- Experience with data analysis techniques, tools and methodologies with a focus on data governance and security.
- Experience in data management and building Tableau reports and dashboards for a data governance function.
