POSITION SUMMARY:

The Procurement Team Leader, General and ICT position manages a small team of general and ICT Procurement Officers, General and ICT to drive and deliver VFM/cost effective outcomes to customers for the Department. The role is also responsible for supporting and leading both general and ICT procurement projects. Working closely with the Procurement Management management team, the position identified improvement opportunities, provides high level procurement advice and support to a diverse range of customers, and leads and provides effective relationship management services.

Accountabilities

  • Lead a team in providing or contributing to authoritative and expert advice and recommendations consistent with organisational goals and values.
  • Comply with the Financial Management Act 1994 and other relevant legislation, regulations and government directives, policies and guidelines.
  • Manage the allocation of resources within and the outputs required of the work area to achieve service delivery goals and expectations.
  • Effectively supervise and provide leadership to a team of employees by:

(a) leading and supporting individuals to achieve their potential and contribution to organisational goals and outcomes

(b) modelling behaviours integral to good people management and departmental values

(c) where relevant, managing and monitoring specific improvement objectives in annual improvement plans relating to the area of responsibility

(d) pro-actively building and maintaining positive relationships with peers and stakeholders across the organisation.

  • Manage, interpret and apply business plans and policies in own area of responsibility and provides advice to others on design and implementation issues.
  • Resolve complex operational problems and issues being experienced by team members.
  • Design, develop and undertake a range of general and ICT procurement and funding projects and ensure they are completed accurately and timely and variations are in accordance with departmental procedures, statutory requirements and contractual terms.
  • Provide input and recommendations on opportunities for cost savings and monitor and report on subsequent savings arising from such initiatives.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
