As a Lecturer / Researcher (0.8-1.0 FTE) at Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) you are passionate about Building Services and would like to share this passion with the next generation. You will teach, supervise and develop course materials to ensure buildings efficiently embrace future trends, specifically in the hospitality and facility management industry. About this job
As a lecturer / researcher in Building Services (0.8-1.0 fte) you will be involved in both education and research projects to help shape future developments within the Academy of Hotel & Facility Management (AHF). You have a strong vision of the future development of the hospitality and facility industry, especially in terms of understanding increasing focus on wellbeing, sustainability, and technology. You believe in a cross-disciplinary approach and collaborate with multiple disciplines (among others technical, aesthetics, architectural and indoor climate). The main educational and research themes center around the user-centered design of spaces and services.
You will give substance to existing and new concepts in workplace (service) design and evidence-based methods for optimizing the workplace; catering outlets, operations, culture and employee experience. As lecturer / researcher you are expected to focus on developing design methods and adapting services to ensure buildings efficiently embrace future trends and create resilient spaces and businesses. Of course, as part of the Academy of Hotel & Facility Management, you focus on this industry and love to connect with different stakeholders in our industry.
You have expert knowledge in your field, able to conduct applied research and can translate your findings into publications and innovative educational materials. You are willing to represent the academy in national and international networks and at conferences. You will provide lectures in English and – based on your expertise – you will supervise and coach students in project groups, placements and during graduation. You will develop teaching materials and make an active contribution to the development of the Hospitality and Facility Management curriculum.
What do we offer?
The salary for this position amounts to a monthly minimum of € 3,881.09 and a maximum of € 5,332,48 (gross amounts based on full-time employment);
This position is classified as scale 11 of the CAO HBO (collective labour agreement). Your official job title will be that of Lecturer;
This position involves a one-year employment contract with the possibility of conversion into an indefinite employment contract;
Your commuting expenses will be fully reimbursed when you travel by public transport;
You will receive compensation for health insurance;
You will receive a 13th month payment in December and an 8% holiday allowance in May;
You will also be awarded professional development hours every year and almost eleven weeks of holiday entitlements in a full-time position;
You will be working at our modern, sustainable and high-tech campus within a vibrant, creative and dynamic environment near the city centre of Breda.
What do we ask of you?
You have an academic level of professional and intellectual ability and at least a master's degree relevant to the position;
You have excellent skills in project work and project management, and you preferably have teaching experience or are willing to obtain a didactics certificate;
Applicants with experience in the field of Workplace Experience or Building Services, preferably as a lecturer, manager, or consultant and who can contribute to subjects such as Strategic Management, Research and Design, Marketing or Client Behaviour have our special interest;
Experience in the Facility or Hotel industry is preferred;
Due to the international character of our university of applied sciences, a good command of the English language in speech and writing (C1 level) is essential.
